SOFE closely Monitors the Needs of Users and Promotes High-quality Development of Compressors

In mid-January, Sinopec Oilfield Equipment Corporation (SOFE) contracted the "Combustion Drive to Electric Drive" project of two natural gas compressors in Zhongyuan Oilfield with the advantages of R&D, manufacturing and brand services of natural gas compressors, which further solved the problems of aging combustion drive compressor components, high failure rate, high noise, high discharge temperature and mismatched output power, and promoted the iterative upgrading of compressors on the user's site.

Compressors are widely used in natural gas pressurization mining, gas lift and liquid discharge, centralized processing and transportation, gas injection and refueling, etc., the combustion drive compressor unit uses natural gas as the fuel engine drive, and the electric drive compressor has the advantages of environmental protection, energy saving, low noise, less maintenance cost, safe and convenient maintenance than the combustion drive.

Relying on decades of compressor manufacturing advantages, we have built a domestic manufacturing base for natural gas compressors. Guided by market demand, we strengthen independent technological innovation, combine superior technical resources at home and abroad, carry out research on compressor control, simulation analysis, etc., tackle key compressor manufacturing technologies, and continuously expand RDS compressor series.

Especially in recent years, characteristic equipment such as shale gas booster compressors, high-pressure and high-power gas storage compressors, carbon dioxide compressors, high sulfur natural gas compressors, marine high-power reciprocating compressors, hydrogen compressors and other characteristic equipment have emerged in SOFE, greatly improving the localization rate of compressors and significantly reducing costs. They are widely used in domestic oil and gas field development.

In the Puguang Gas Field, facing the high requirements for corrosion resistance, sealing, and safety of high sulfur compressors, SOFE has broken through key core technical difficulties from dimensions such as structural design, corrosion resistant materials, welding processes, and overall testing. It has taken the lead in mastering compressor research and manufacturing technology suitable for operation in a natural gas environment with 17.5% hydrogen sulfide in China, breaking foreign monopolies. In April 2022, the company launched its first domestic high sulfur natural gas compressor unit, which completed industrial testing at the P101 station of the Puguang gas field, providing equipment support for the development, stable production, and increased production of acidic gas fields.

The use of carbon dioxide for oil recovery can develop low-permeability reservoir reserves, achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction and resource utilization, and the key equipment for injecting carbon dioxide into the reservoir is the compressor. In response to the wide range of changes in carbon dioxide content and high pressure during operation, SOFE has developed a advanced compressor unit with acid resistance and suitable for supercritical conditions. The unit has solved problems such as speed range adjustment, reverse angle change, load ratio distribution, and carbon dioxide corrosion, meeting the needs of carbon dioxide re-injection, and successfully applied to China's first million ton level CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) project - Qilu Petrochemical Shengli Oilfield CCUS project.

Facing the offshore platform and gas gathering and boosting scenarios, SOFE took the responsibility of leading the project of "Marine High-power Reciprocating Compressor Development", focusing on key technologies such as system integration, high-speed and high-power reciprocating full-balance compressor crankcase assembly, and developed the first 2250 kW marine high-power reciprocating compressor engineering prototype in China, and successfully passed the certification of the classification society.

In view of the specific requirements of the gas storage inlet pressure, discharging capacity, discharge pressure, discharge temperature and other specific requirements, the company independently developed a high-pressure and high-power gas storage compressor with strong "large throughput and large discharge" ability, and boosted the independence of nearly 70% of the compressors in the Central Plains gas storage group with innovative achievements and integrated operation and maintenance services. In Wen 23 gas storage, SOFE compressors show advantages in process adaptability, vibration indicators and 1,000-hour failure rate, and realize the first delivery, first commissioning, and first operation, and undertake more than 70% of the gas injection tasks of the gas storage with 50% of the number of equipment.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of the on-site booster compressor, SOFE has also set up a technical service center on site to undertake the arrival acceptance, installation and commissioning, delivery procedures, inspection, fault handling and maintenance tasks of the compressor. Adhere to the principle of "repair and guarantee operation first, and then clarify responsibilities", quickly deal with faults, respond to user needs, and continue to be favored by the market.
